Electrified Monorail Trolleys
Trolleys
United States Monorail current collectors are hard copper alloy of the shoe type. The contactor shoe is set in bakelite insulators attached to the top of steel yoke type bracket.
A double coil spring engaging the bracket maintains the proper contact between the shoe and the conductor bar.
Collectors of the sliding shoe type have a large contact area and are fully shrouded in the bakelite housing. This method of collection, the same as used in high speed railway electrification, assures polished conductors and collectors at all times and there by reduces arcing.
